New Alana MK3

As of 6/2009 the latest version of the Alana pre-amplifier is now

available.  This latest MK3 version has an improved PCB  layout and

several improvements to the circuit design.  The result is a cleaner

and more open, detailed sound with better control.  The MK3 will

be easy to tell from previous units by it's sound and it's Blue PCB.

Key Changes:

-  Improvements to the star grounding for lower noise

-  Revised regulation circuit for filaments

-  Current sources added to the output stage

-  Revised front stage circuit for lower distortion

-  The LED display is now turned off.  The display is only active when changes are made.  This is to reduce radiated noise

-  (Optional) The front selector switch now switches up and down.  Mute is removed from the switch, but still on the remote

The improvements to the Alana came about from the

development of the new lower cost One pre-amplifier.

One Pre-amplifier

The new One pre-amplifier is the first product from a lower cost line

that being developed.  Unfortunately most of high end audio is

continuing to push to higher and higher price points.  Top products

are well out of the reach of most audiophiles.  While this new pre-

amplifier is still quite expensive, it offers outstanding performance at

60 percent of the price of the Alana with minimal sonic impact.

The One uses a single 6SN7 tube per channel in a new smaller

chassis.  The Lundahl power transformer and choke and the

microprocessor controlled series - shunt attenuator circuit

developed for the Alana have been incorporated into the PCB

design with a new push button user  interface.  Continue watching

for more developments and pictures as samples become available.
